Who is Mela Prina?
Chef, caterer, restaurateur, cake connoisseur Mela Prima grew up in the design and fashion capital of the world, Milan, Italy. Although she had always enjoyed cooking with her family her passion for the culinary arts did not fully emerge until she had left higher educationin architecture and design at Politecnico University. She first worked as a chef, quickly establishing her zeal for using natural and organic ingredients, then as a haute cuisine caterer for a number of the small clubs and restaurants in her home city.
Knowing that she still had much to learn she spent a few years working at a number of noted and Michelin stared restaurants in Europe and America including; Café Armani in Boston, The Ark in London (where Madonna was a regular costumer), Dollada in Italy and Rocamador in Spain.
Her skills rounded she moved back to Italy, to the picturesque town of Sestri Levante on the Italian Riviera where she opened her own restaurant called La Mandrella. Focussing on natural ingredients and unadulterated flavours her restaurant offered a fusion of modern and traditional Ligurian cuisine.
On moving to London Mela set up Kicca Cakes which combines three of her culinary passions; to use only the finest ingredients, to create something wondrous and unique every time and to see her creations bring happiness and joy to her clients.
Such is the quality of her work that Mela’s cakes are regularly featured in magazines, ordered by top London hotels and have been the centrepieces at many a wedding, birthday and corporate event. Her attention to detail and devotion to her art ensures that every exquisitely fashioned cake tastes as good as it looks and adheres to any dietary or design requirements that you may have.
